I edit nonfiction books, fiction, marketing materials, and digital content.I completed the professional Certificate in Editing from the University of Washington. I hold a M.S. in Nutrition from Bastyr University and a B.A. in comparative literature from New College of Florida. Before becoming an editor, I was a personal chef, health coach, research assistant, and customer service manager for online startups.I live with my husband and daughter in Seattle where I serve on our school's PTA, supporting my community. I've also lived in London and studied abroad in Toulouse. When I'm not editing, you can find me exercising, cooking, and hunting for wild chanterelles in the woods.

editing services offered

Copyediting

I provide three levels of copyediting services: light, medium, and heavy. A copyedit is best done after a manuscript has been through a content or developmental edit.

  • A light copyedit corrects mechanical errors in the text (grammar, punctuation, spelling) and includes suggestions to maintain consistent style choices throughout. An example of a style choice would be an author using non-traditional spellings for certain words.

  • A medium copyedit includes the above plus suggestions for revising passages to improve flow, structure, or gaps in logic, but those changes would not be made unless approved by you.

  • A heavy copyedit goes a step further and includes all of the above plus I would transparently revise wordy passages, improve organization, query gaps in logic, and fact-check to save you time.

line editing

Line editing includes:

  • Tightening up language, revising awkward passages, smoothing the flow of your ideas, and improving transitions.

  • I also consider word choice throughout your text and make suggestions to reinforce your voice as the author.

  • The focus is less on correcting grammar and punctuation and more on improving flow, readability, pace, and strengthening your message.

content editing

Content editing is big-picture editing. I assess your writing to see how we can make your work even more striking and accurate. I enjoy working with varied content and specialize in health, medical, and cooking writing.Content editing focuses on improving:

  • Missing information

  • Factual inconsistencies

  • Structure or organization

  • Maintaining brand voice

  • SEO
